From Well-kept Garage Queen to Daily Driven Street Machine

Subaru’s and engine builds are no unknown topic to us at Surgeline.  We see all sorts of builds, from basic engine failure rebuilds, to all-out builds for peak power gains and race specific builds.  Recently, we finished up the rebuild of a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi for Michael, taking his garage queen and turning it into a subtle street machine.

Michael said, “Ultimately, my goal was to have a beefy STI that would retain its true Subaru form, with a TMIC and a non-rotated setup that didn’t appear modded to the untrained eye. Something I could drive a few miles to work, then take to the strip and enjoy at the track.” It was a mild goal, with plans for going much further in the future.

“It was super easy and also fun,” Michael stated, talking about the overall process of designing the build and making changes and tweaks to fit his needs and future goals.

“Expectations were always met, and Surgeline definitely over-delivered.  I ran about 200 questions past PJ and he helped me work through all of them. I was incredibly happy with their communication, timeliness, updates including pictures, and just overall attitude–especially when I was around.”

When asked whether he had future plans, Michael said, “Of course! The plan is to not daily the car for much longer, and when that happens, it will get real serious.” The photos tell the tale.
